Core techniques include cleaning with chemical poultices — specialised gels or clays applied to dissolve salts and pollutants without saturating the masonry with water — along with stabilising masonry with lime-based mortars, consolidating stone, replacing severely decayed elements with matching historic materials, and using discreet crack injections.
